Design Question

How can daily life and objects of agricultural communities get validated as structures of knowledge?  How does a house become a museum? How does one build a relationship between older typologies and contemporary additions?

Design Intention

To convert an old house into a Museum. To generate new forms of movement to make the domestic space into a public space. To create narratives of agricultural life through placement of objects in the house museum. To surgically make new alterations to the house to get more light and ventilation for the museum. Using lighter materials in the worm of recycled wood and metal for new additions in dialogue with older material brick, clay and basalt stone, which is heavier. To design the landscape as an extension to the museum to display agricultural tools.
